Meschka Seifritz – Palmerston North City Council (PNCC) Internship Presentation

Meschka Seifritz (Ngāti Kauwhata), was extended an internship from the Palmerston North City Council (PNCC). Her internship focused on measuring the number of macroinvertebrates in the Palmerston North drinking water supply dams. This involved doing on-site testing, measuring and understanding the composition of the drinking water and looking at solutions to future proof and ensure the continued potability of the towns water supply. Furthermore, Meschka was able to connect this research with the understanding of Te Ao Māori, the importance of the Mauri of the water and the important connection of the people to it.
