This pivotal role will be the driving force of Pūhoro’s success in the region by managing the onboarding of new schools, fostering stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the delivery of impactful programmes for rangatahi. As Kaihautū Lead, you will be instrumental in championing Māori potential in STEMM and providing direct leadership to one Kaihautū.
· Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including whānau, schools, iwi, industry partners, and community groups, to support Pūhoro’s kaupapa.
· Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to one Kaihautū, ensuring effective collaboration and support in delivering our programmes.
· Programme Delivery: Oversee the implementation of wānanga and other key activities in the region, ensuring alignment with Pūhoro’s strategic goals.
· Budget Management: Manage regional budgets effectively, ensuring resources are allocated to achieve maximum impact.
· Reporting: Provide regular progress updates to senior leadership, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities.
You are a skilled leader and communicator with a passion for empowering rangatahi Māori. Your experience in stakeholder engagement and programme delivery equips you to manage diverse relationships and ensure positive outcomes. You are organised, adaptable, and committed to advancing Māori success in STEMM.
· Experience working with rangatahi Māori and a deep understanding of their unique needs, ideally within education, community, or kaupapa Māori contexts.
· Strong understanding of Mātauranga Māori and a commitment to te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.
· Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders, including iwi, schools, and industry partners.
· Experience in managing budgets and reporting on project outcomes.
· Knowledge in STEM that will enable you to support our rangatahi at an NCEA level.
· Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
· A full driver’s licence and the ability to travel across Te Tai Tokerau as required.

Location: Whangārei, Te Tai Tokerau
Work arrangement: Initially work-from-home, with regular travel required to Pūhoro partner schools across Norhtland (a Pūhoro work vehicle will be provided). We are currently sourcing an office space and this role will be required to work from that location in time.
Contract: Full-time, 12-month fixed-term (37.5 hours per week)
Salary band: $72,500 – $101,000
